the über-dynamic duo

Ladies and Gentleman I bring you...the dresden dolls
Amanda Palmer if fucking genious. Palmer accompanies her confessional story-songs with a thunderous and shimmering piano style. The music has a strange, almost disturbing, passion to it. Some songs are ironic, others, disconcerting ... Reading her biography i learned a lot about her and how she came to be with Brian Viglione. Viglione's jazz and hardcore-influenced drumming and creative percussion provides a delicate support of rhythm and a piercing bed of nails onto which Palmer lays her bitter , "tragicomic" lyrics. It seems that the Dolls are prepared
to outshine cult status and obliterate all commonly held ideas about what a rock band is supposed to be.

The now are preparing to record new material with producers Sean Slade and Paul Kolderie (Radiohead, Courtney Love).

Even more exciting is they are playing in Iowa City and i'm going with Forest, Mike, and Cameron. ^_^

What do they sound like?
'Combine the smoky cellars of a Weimar-era cabaret with the rock n' roll fury of Joan Jett, PJ Harvey and The Violent Femmes and you have a remote idea of what to expect when experiencing The Dresden Dolls.'

"and i loved you in bright orange
and in violet and in green
and i loved you in such colors
as your eyes have never ever seen
and i loved the way you acted
but your one trick pony's dead
and i loved you unprotected
but you only love in
red"
